The road surface is terrible all the way up and down this stretch of Cumbernauld road, from Edinburgh road to Hogganfield loch. Near Hogganfield there is a marked cycle way, but the road surface is dangerous for bikes and markings unclear. The more southerly stretch needs a cycleway marked out.
