I've reported this issue at www.cyclescape.org/threads/5896
On 26 September 10.15pm I was cycling from Cambridge North towards Histon along the guided busway. The busway is well lit until exiting the tunnel under the A14 when lighting ceases.
Then shortly afterwards the tarmac surface narrows abruptly due to the gravel strip. There's also a fence (something to do with animal tunnel?) at this point. After exiting the tunnel I avoided an oncoming cyclist and shortly afterwards clipped the fence causing me to fall heavily on my shoulder, back and hip. I spent the night in A&E where a ACJ grade 3 shoulder dislocation was diagnosed.
You need additional lighting and reflective surfaces on the fence. The fence is also partly obscured be weeds.
