A temporary closure of NCN75 Clyde Walkway starts tomorrow, for 7 months, as far as the Smart Bridge. Yet again, the steep ramp at the Rutherglen Bridge access point here (see #98398 and #71262), will be showing how useful replacing it … [more]

Unfortunate that part of the Clyde Walkway is still closed after fire last year. Mind you, it was narrowest bit (between Kingston bridge and Squinty bridge). At least the road is quieter now and easier for distancing. Still not sure what … [more]

The rebuilt Polmadie Bridge is now open. See also #102058.

The rebuilt Polmadie Bridge is now open. See also #102059.

This traffic island needs a gap to allow signalled cycle access between the Tradeston Bridge and York Street. It could also be used for right turns from Broomielaw (for those coming from Blythswood St and James Watt St) towards the … [more]

The shared use sign (see #65297) for the Broomielaw footway has been removed and signs now direct cyclists to the Clyde Walkway. But old habits die hard.

The surface on the ramp between Broomielaw and the Clyde Walkway has been reinstated. A sign proclaims "access improvements". Ah, it's slightly wider (see #88473).

Access to NCN75 Clyde Walkway is possible from Dunlop Street (and from the cycle track at Stockwell Place #30509), but not vice versa since Dunlop Street is one-way.

Now that the excellent new ramp next to Victoria Bridge has been built, the gates that so often blocked the former route of NCN75 (see #31366) seem to be left open much of the time.

Work of some sort happening on the piers of the former Polmadie Bridge, with the Clyde Walkway remaining open.

Now that the riverside path has reopened, I notice a sign for NCN75 pointing up the old diversion around the former Polmadie Bridge, and now that path has shut for work on the old bridge piers.

Despite the Clyde Gateway road and new police headquarters being built alongside, the cobbled ramp still remains unaltered. A flight of concrete steps has been provided for access to the police headquarters.

An interesting bollard, but access to the cycle path from the carriageway of Cotton Street involves either cycling along the footway or bumping the low kerb and going through the dirt.

There appears to be some demand for a ramp to bypass the steps up to Dalmarnock Road.

NCN75 closed at the SECC due to the Festival of Motoring of all things.

Clyde Walkway Location: Glasgow Central, Glasgow (Scotland, United Kingdom)

This has apparently been left like this for several weeks! No warning signs for anyone approaching from the riverside.

The route sign directs cyclists to the flight of steps under the bridge, when they need to use the ramp up to street level. However, the ramp to street level has been partially dismantled, and has been left like this for a few weeks (see … [more]

Another scheme where the designer has failed to take account of how vehicles will be parked, given that there is unlikely to ever be any parking enforcement around here. Putting in wide footways with big stone kerbs is a waste of money in … [more]

The Smart Bridge connects NCN75 with NCN756 on the opposite bank of the River Clyde. But the only signage is by means of Sustrans stickers.

The Cotton Street access to the Clyde Walkway. A choice of going onto the footway on the approach, or bumping the kerb next to the gate.

The Shore Street access to the Clyde Walkway.

The Clyde Walkway needs swept, like many off-road cyclepaths in Glasgow.

New bridge connecting the Cuningar Loop park to the former athletes' village, but no connection to the Clyde Walkway.

Still no dropped kerb at cycle path access point next to Dalmarnock Bridge.

A clear desire line for a ramp to the Clyde Walkway where there is only steps on this side of Dalmarnock Road.

No crossing to get to the riverside or NCN75 from James Watt St, and way blocked by a continuous railing. See also #173269. At the same time, Glasgow City Council is progressing with plans to implement a contraflow cycle facility in … [more]

The sign gives directions for left and right, but some people may actually want to go straight on, but the way is blocked by a planted area and the Fastlink busway. Behind the planted area is a 3-stage toucan crossing across Broomielaw (see … [more]

Clydeside Path

A car parked on NCN75.

NCN756 has now been signed via the south bank of the River Clyde, but the cycle route along this bank hasn't been built yet, and there are still some flights of steps such as at #71267! Of the destinations listed, only Richmond Park is on … [more]

The ramp up from the Clyde Walkway to the Clyde Gateway is still steep and cobbled, yet the new Police Headquarters has a shiny flight of steps!

Despite the money spent on the road and on the adjacent newly built Police Headquarters, the ramp for cycling down to the Clyde Walkway is still steep and cobbled.

Apparently Polmadie Bridge was found to be in such a perilous state that it had to be shut immediately, including closing the paths and river beneath it! Demolition is due to start on 12 October 2015. No replacement bridge has been proposed … [more]

New lighting has been installed along the riverside path, but the lampposts have been planted in the path, obstructing it. It's 2015!
