NCN756 closed in North Claremont Street, with a sign saying to dismount and use footway. But there's no footway on this side and pedestrians are walking in the road.

"Diversion cyclists dismount" on Waterloo Street. No explanation as to where the diversion leads (other than an NCN7 emblem), or any obvious reason why cyclists might need to dismount. There were no further signs to be seen further along … [more]

"Cyclists Please Dismount" on NCN7 at Scottish Events Campus. Also "Pedestrians this way" without indicating a way. The footway is shared use. Update: The "No Cycling/Cyclists Please Dismount" sign in the photo above has since been … [more]

Another day, another dismount sign https://t.co/TEQEDLgAUW

People make Glasgow difficult to cycle around. Another closure of McPhater Street on the Colleges Cycle Route. The parallel main road behind is not closed.

Cyclists following the Glasgow to Paisley cycle route are to dismount and cross the road to the next 'Cyclists Dismount' sign, follow the footway around the corner to the pedestrian crossings at the motorway junction, cross over to the … [more]

The cycle route leaves the footway and cyclists can start cycling on the carriageway. A dropped kerb has been provided next to the one remaining railing (there used to be two).

Although not itself part of the National Cycle Network, Sustrans has provided "This way to" stickers for NCN routes 7 and 75 for this section of signed cycle route which meets up with the NCN routes in Cessnock. This section is part of a … [more]

The pedestrian crossings form part of the original Glasgow to Paisley cycle route, opened by Cllr Charlie Gordon back in 1993. This section is part of one of the many 'Cyclists Dismount' sections, and it remains so to this day. Nowadays, … [more]

The contraflow cycle lane in Howard Street is blocked by roadworks, and this sign is at the end cyclists won't be approaching from while using it. See also #170198.

A humped zebra crossing in Shawbridge Street, this time with Belisha beacons, and also Cyclists Dismount signs.

The signs at the foot of the footbridge connecting the two parts of Beech Avenue across the M8 motorway. The direction sign is obscured by tree braches, and not visible if following the original Paisley to Glasgow cycle route (an important … [more]

The footbridge connecting the two parts of Beech Avenue across the M8 motorway, and part of the original Glasgow to Paisley cycle route. The footbridge ramps have a single step at each side of the bridge.

"Cyclists Dismount And Use Footway" - the Sighthill diversion route appears to have been signed along the footway of various roads, none of which are actually signed as being shared use, so why dismount here?

A 'Cyclists Dismount' sign on the path alongside the Springburn Expressway, at a point where all approaches have steps, except for the route to Carleston Street over the bridge.

Claypits Nature Reserve bridge under construction over the Forth & Clyde Canal. There is a rough path to get around the side of the worksite.

Please dismount for the freshly laid 10 metres of straight tarmac that has recently been laid. What is this pointlessness? @GoBikeGlasgow https://t.co/q8wMpCpnXE

I was surprised to find this direction sign for HMNB Clyde, Faslane, at this location.

'Cyclists Dismount' at the footbridge across the motorway connecting Queenslie Industrial Estate and the Fort shopping centre.

The entrance to the Robroyston station car park on the Millerston side. A 'Cyclists Dismount' sign but nothing to say motorists can't drive all the way to their parking spaces.

A 'Cyclists Dismount' sign, unusually in mixed upper and lower case, at the entrance to Robroyston station car park, suggesting the footway from #112818 is indeed shared-use. For those not on the footway, a mandatory tour of the car park … [more]

The end of the shared footway on Saughs Avenue. But since there is a shared footway across the toucan crossing, there is really no need for the 'Cyclists Dismount' sign. However, the shared footway is far too narrow.

@magnatom @GlasgowCC @AnnaLangside @GoBikeGlasgow We took this photo & plan to write to council. Why not 'please take care through roadworks and show respect to workers & fellow road users'? Feel free to use photo if you like. … [more]

A clumsy section of cycle route at Preston Place heading towards Govanhill Park, with a dropped kerb that is vulnerable to blockage by car parking.

A kerb on the approach to the pedestrian crossing across Cathcart Road. The cycle route continues across the other side of the road.

The old 'Cyclists Dismount' sign has been joined by a shared use sign. Why doesn't the latter say "Be polite please"?

A new addition to my commute for the next 2 months. (#glasgow Aikenhead Road) https://t.co/2MQixMRoZZ

West City Way, Glasgow. Flagship cycling infrastructure. Dismount and use pavement. Pathetic. https://t.co/wU0gexsvJZ [See also #93831]

What starts off like a positive permission to cycle ends up more like an ultimatum!

A lot of money was spent completely rebuilding Dalmarnock station, and yet the cycle parking has been placed far too close to a wall in what looks like quite a dodgy corner. All the barriers around the Dalmarnock Road/Clyde Gateway … [more]

A random "Cyclists Dismount" sign on car park access road, approaching NCN 7 & 75 on Pacific Drive.

A Cyclists Dismount sign that really shouldn't be needed for anyone who has successfully cycled down the previous flight of steps (see #86773).

The year-long closure of Queen's Drive for water tunnel works includes a 'Cyclists Please Dismount' sign. On the positive side, through traffic on Victoria Road has been cut substantially!

A 'Cyclists Dismount and use footway' sign at rail bridge roadworks, where the footway is now shared use. Scaffolding was partly blocking the footway, making it single file but no real need to dismount. No real need for that shared use … [more]

Narrow entrance to Clyde Tunnel. Location: Drumoyne, Glasgow (Scotland, United Kingdom)

Taking the easy option. Who makes these signs anyway? What's wrong with 'Drivers give space to cyclists' ? http://t.co/GfKiJvcQRD

Not sure I 100% understand the principle behind @Sustrans national cycle network... @carsickglasgow http://t.co/NZw3T1Ek1w

The segregated cycle track ends and cyclists on the Balmore Road Safer Route To School are meant to walk across the canal bridge on the footway

This road layout was completed from a blank canvas (the whole of the Oatlands housing scheme east of this point was demolished) and yet the road planners still didn't leave enough space for their planned "cycle facility" past one of the few … [more]

Entrance to underpass beneath Clydeside Expressway in Balshagray Drive (other end at #36115). There is also a cycle sign for City Centre on the left.

This Cyclists Dismount sign is justified since there are steps on the riverside path here. Cyclists are better going via the Gorbals Sports Centre car park (but see #31365). UPDATE 2016: A new step-free path has been created at street … [more]
