Poorly surfaced path from Woodhead Road to Whitriggs Road.

Path from Salterland Road at Whitriggs Road. The path through the little gate leads to Woodhead Road, but does the gate get locked?

Clear park entrance that aligns with local road network, allowing users to cross directly across the main road.

The canal towpath is now closed for resurfacing. Work can be seen going on in the distance. However, the only information for the diversion route is on the notice at the closure. The route itself, which is via the parallel main road, is not … [more]

Some of the gates across the Forth & Clyde Canal towpath are now regularly shut across the path again.

The Provan Hall Trail at the far end of Blairtummock Park. From here the trail is signed along Easterhouse Road to Easterhouse Railway Station. The path ends at the motorway sliproad junction. The road ahead, Rogerfield Road, looks even … [more]

Van and car parking on the (presumably shared use) footway connecting the Craighall Road toucan crossing to the Forth & Clyde Canal at Speirs Wharf. The car is also blocking a dropped kerb (the dropped kerb can be seen better in #188011).

Dropped kerbs have now been installed to assist with cycling around the gate at Speir's Wharf, addressing the issue in #170157.

Entrance to Auchenshuggle Woods, off London Rd. Gate with sprung hinges onto gravel path. Locals who cycle often use southern pavement of London Rd to get to Auchenshuggle (despite Spaces for People lanes on road).

The replacement Clyde Place cycleway is finally open.

The COP26 fence completely obstructs the riverside path that forms part of the Kelvin Walkway, and although there is a gate and it is open, it opens onto the remaining width of the path blocking it.

A fence has been built all around the Kelvingrove Art Gallery for the COP26 event. It blocks the footway (the one that might be shared-use due to the one-way carriageway) and the gate only opens across the carriageway,

Preparing to shut the Stobcross Bridge for COP26.

Several of the entrances to Drumchapel Park have no dropped kerbs available to leave the carriageway, and also have railings hindering access. This is one of the shorter ones. The railing on the corner of Hecla Avenue makes it too difficult … [more]

The sign on the gate says "No Parking" but there is no enforcement. The footway forms the link between the partly installed toucan crossing across Craighall Road and the canal path.

Again I forgot to approach this gate on the footway, since there is no dropped kerb to assist with getting around it from the carriageway. Update 2022: See #188011 where dropped kerbs have been provided.

Pinkston Road still closed as Sighthill redevelopment continues.

The path from the allotments (see #170043) reaches the playing fields car park via this gate. The kerb could be lowered to make it more accessible.

A gate right across the carriageway of Bogside Road, hindering cycling between Millerston and Robroyston. There is no dropped kerb on this side of the gate to enable it to be bypassed using either footway.

Another gate across the road linking the two sides of Robroyston station, and again there's only dropped kerbs on one side of the gate. The next opportunity to leave the footways (which aren't signed as shared use) isn't for a while, either … [more]

The gate at Robroyston station closes off the full width of the carriageway, and a dropped kerb has been provided on only one side of it to enable cyclists to join the footway and go around it. The nearest dropped kerb on the other side of … [more]

A gate has been provided across the full width of the road beyond the station. Partly due to its colour, I didn't realise it covered the full width of the road until I'd passed the last opportunity to leave the carriageway and join the … [more]

No progress on rebuilding the south bank path (damaged by subsidence).

Gated path between Allander Street and Tannock Street. The path surface is whindust, with a liberal coating of glass.

Due to problems with public disorder on hot sunny days, various gates to Kelvingrove Park have been locked shut. Evidently, this is not a popular policy.

Nothing to warn NCN756 and West City Way users that there is a locked gate preventing egress from Kelvingrove Park ahead, and that the nearest way out is onto Kelvingrove Street to the right.

Due to problems with public disorder on hot sunny days, various gates to Kelvingrove Park have been locked shut. This is one of the gates that was supposed to be left open, yet it is chained and locked shut. Simple for me to divert around … [more]

An attempt to tidy the area up but flytipping hasn't been eradicated.

Just as I was about to leave Victoria Park, I noticed this bollard emblazoned "Park Cycle Route End".

Access between Elder Park and Drive Road hindered by a railing, yet signed (in tiny writing) for cycling.

The exit from the southbound pedestrian/cycle Clyde Tunnel. Although each tunnel is one-way for cycles, pedestrians can use either tunnel in either directions. How are pedestrians entering here expected to know about the possibility of … [more]

Faded route signs pointing in random directions.

A gate across Monymusk Place, on the Drumchapel Way and Garscadden Way. The Garscadden Wood path starts on the right a short distance beyond the gate.

A gate with gaps both sides protecting the access path from Great Western Road to the Forth & Clyde Canal towpath. The curved walls are similar to gateways created at a number of cycle path accesses around Glasgow.

A gate at the end of the path from the Forth & Clyde Canal towpath at Great Western Road, with gaps both sides, but only access to the footway and westbound carriageway.

The riverside path meets Yoker Ferry Road at the ferry slipway.

A locked gate and a bumpy track beyond. Although there is no sign to say where this leads, anyone exiting here is furnished with cycling directions (see #99821).

A gate across the path to Coatbridge Road. See also #99722.

I guess they thought this old piece of path would be acceptable within this huge motorway building project. If someone ever did shut this gate properly and someone in a wheelchair needed to open it, it would be extremely difficult to do so … [more]

Rogerfield Road is still blocked by a gate, although able-bodied pedestrian access is clearly possible. A poor show considering the Core Path status it received.

I'm guessing that as part of the proposed cycle route along Jura Street, this entrance to Bellahouston Park will be rebuilt to include a wider gate and better path around the back of the bowling green pavilion.

Now that the excellent new ramp next to Victoria Bridge has been built, the gates that so often blocked the former route of NCN75 (see #31366) seem to be left open much of the time.

An interesting bollard, but access to the cycle path from the carriageway of Cotton Street involves either cycling along the footway or bumping the low kerb and going through the dirt.

A back lane between Victoria Park Gardens South and Marlborough Avenue signed as a recommended route for cyclists. There is a gate across part of the width of the lane (just visible) to stop through motor traffic.

The Fastlink busway was built without any dropped kerbs outside the Festival Park gate, hindering cycle access between the Science Centre and Festival Park. The footway here is to be converted to shared use.

The northern footway of Govan Road is being rebuilt for shared use.

Building works at Partick Bus Station have meant that the point where cyclists join Merkland St carriageway has now been closed, and cyclists are forced to share a narrow footway already obstructed by (unrelated) scaffolding. However, … [more]

NCN75 closed for construction of the Smartbridge (seen in background), with diversion via Dalmarnock backstreets.

Gate blocking most of the width of the access ramp to the Clyde Walkway/NCN75 at Dalmarnock Bridge. There's still no dropped kerb, despite repeated requests to Glasgow City Council, for cyclists coming from the road. However, a sign has … [more]

Construction work on one of the gates that will shut off NCN75 during the Commonwealth Games. Temporary lighting has also been provided on this normally unlit path.

One of the gates that will shut off NCN75 during the Commonwealth Games. The diversion route is to the right, seen at #59288.

On the left, offside access to the Forth & Clyde Canal at Kelvin Dock. (Access to the towpath can only be gained from here by crossing over one of the lock gates.) On the right, access to the Kelvin Walkway. Poor surface all round.

Obstructive gate across path alongside canal, although sign says cycles and wheelchair users can use it. This path follows the opposite side of the canal from the main towpath, but serves residential areas well before the next canal bridge.

The Auldhouse Road exit from Greenbank Park is blocked by a railing and there is no dropped kerb, although the road closure opposite on Holeburn Road has a cycle gap. See #170066 for an updated image.
