Unprotected cycle parking in Hanover Street damaged by drivers, and uncontrolled car parking obstructing access.
Some of the cycle parking is being used for trolley storage. Also has potential to block emergency exit route if trolley storage increases back to the levels seen in other image at #185089.
Not so much 'No Parking' as not enough cycle parking in the right places. Also, it was installed too close to the wall.
The visitor bike parking at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery is full of hire bikes, so this visitor has locked to a lamppost near the entrance.
A fallen cycle parking stand in Benalder Street. But it appears that it was not the rust that led to its downfall.
We can’t make utility cycling a daily norm for more people, if we shove the cycle parking behind the building, away from the entrance and use it as storage for trolleys! 🫤 https://t.co/sDn1DoNci1
Damage to a sign post and a wrecked cycle stand, while the Fire Path markings on the traffic island are almost unreadable.
The cycle parking isn't disused as I had imagined on my previous visit (see #178054). However, its poor design is clear from the way it is being used.
Tiny Sheffield stands near the rebuilt entrance to Lidl supermarket. These do not support the bike well, particularly when loading shopping.
Abandoned cycle parking in an abandoned car park. UPDATE: This cycle parking does see some use, see #182000.
Poor cycle parking at new development in Minerva Street, now in use. Update on #172680. Very close to COP26 venue.
Very poor cycle parking at fitness centre in Minerva Way. One user has lifted bike over to lock to rear of framework.
New but damaged cycle parking at the Vet School. Not best placed with regards to access to the building either.
Two cycle stands installed in Cowan Street ridiculously close together, and attracting abandoned bikes.
Brand new archaic cycle parking at newly built property in Minerva Street. How do you securely lock a bike to these? See also #174560.
Residential cycle parking needs to be a bit more secure that just stands in the street. It could also be further away from the kerb to allow room for opening car doors.
Secure cycle parking required at tower blocks in Charles Street. This location is very handy for cycling into the city centre, but better storage is required.
Secure cycle parking required at tower blocks in Charles Street. This location is very handy for cycling into the city centre, but better storage is required.
A damaged cycle parking stand on St Vincent Crescent. The bollards are facing the wrong way, exhibiting a white reflector on the left side of the road and red on the right side of the road. A sacrificial bollard on this side of the cycle … [more]
Damaged cycle parking stands on Jamaica Street. The "except buses, taxis & cycles" sign on the traffic signal is obscured by a sticker.
The end of Miller Street looking towards Argyle Street pedestrian precinct. Argyle Street forms part of the Core Path Network, and as such cycling is supposed to be permitted. However, the signs for the precinct do not say this. One of the … [more]
Five tightly spaced cycle parking stands, unsigned and hidden behind the trolley stack, at Aldi, just off Great Western Road.
Insecure cycle parking outside the shop at Kirklee crossroads. There is a step down at the end of the paving slabs.
The cycle parking at Cardonald station has been positioned so close to the walls the end stand is basically unusable, while the others won't support the bikes very well when only one end of the bike is on the stand. But I'm not sure I'd … [more]
This is a housing apartment, and has a private car park, but no cycle park. I have seen many people keep their cycles inside the flat, including me. It is stressful to bring cycle up and down the flat from different floors, and if there was … [more]
The abandoned bike still blocking part of the Maryhill Tesco cycle parking stand, leaving little space for intending customers.
Maryhill Tesco cycle parking regularly full up, unlike the massive car park which always has lots of free spaces.
The cycle parking at the Kelvin Hall (see #95296) has been removed without replacement, meaning bikes are getting locked to railings here and around the corner.
If someone’s going to nick a bike they’re not going to do it outside the Sheriffs Court right? Just as well, as their bike lock ups are pure useless. #onjurydutyforabreak https://t.co/4bgcdP0ICy
The cycle parking stands outside the Kelvin Hall are hopeless and need replaced. Bolting stands onto block paving is not sufficiently secure in a street environment. See also #95251.
It turns out bolting cycle parking stands to block paving isn't very secure. Who knew? See also #95296.
The bins seem to have gone, but more bike parking is still needed in Cambridge Street. One bike looked like it was abandoned. This will be an important parking location for anyone new to cycling when the Woodside mini-Holland is built.
@GBCycleEmbassy #cyclehack @waitrose byres road - GLA. Sheffield stands too close to the wall ❌ open to elements ❌ inadequate hoop ❌ https://t.co/zL960WlfP8
Plenty of car parking spaces, but only tree cages for cycles to be locked too. Every street in Yorkhill needs more bike stands.
Cycle parking at Hillington East station up against the wall. No room for bike to rest either side of the stand.
Is there adequate cycle parking at the Maclay student residences? The bikes on the railing suggest not, but the chap on the bike coming from inside the complex suggests there might be.
Cycle parking at the Kelvin Hall, replacing #31550 where a new extension has been built. But the stands are bolted onto block paving and have since shown the shortcomings of that method of fixing (see #95251 and #95296).
There are several of these motorcycle parking stands dotted around Yorkhill, but not so many bicycle stands.
Bikes parked outside newly built student accommodation. Visitors' bikes, residents' bikes? Perhaps there is secure bike parking inside the complex, I don't know, but there are no stands for bike parking outside.
The cycle parking that used to be outside the Beith Street entrance to Partick station (seen in #33212) has been removed. But there's plenty of space for replacement cycle parking, including the big double deck racks, which would relieve … [more]
The cycle parking seen in #22101 has been removed. The stumps of the stands are just visible. No obvious replacement.
I don't think the shape of the Tesco cycle parking stands is to allow them to be shoved under a ledge!
A lot of money was spent completely rebuilding Dalmarnock station, and yet the cycle parking has been placed far too close to a wall in what looks like quite a dodgy corner. All the barriers around the Dalmarnock Road/Clyde Gateway … [more]
Although the cycle parking stands in the Osborne St car park have been painted, they are still in a cramped corner and there is still demand for some over at King's Court (in background).
Cycle parking not fixed down properly at Tesco, and would be better sited around the front of the store.
Wow @Morrisons Shawlands is so generous for its space for 4 bikes... Seriously... Why... https://t.co/FvWSstUqop
@GlasgowCC Insufficient bike parking in #Shawlands - people shouldn't have to lock bikes to pedestrian barriers https://t.co/vsFWlASExI
Found this in my gallery, forgot I had it tbh. Not enough parking at the uni halls off Maryhill road it seems..... https://t.co/EUHGjQQ3mU
Despite the wet weather on this Saturday afternoon in October, the Cambridge Street cycle parking at Sauchiehall Street is completely full. More stands needed, and the commercial bins are still being stored against the stands.
Cycle parking full up. There used to be rather more stands at this popular location in Byres Road (see #27544). Why was the number reduced?
The single cycle parking stand outside Shields Road subway station (compare to the car park seen in #70767), and some white van pavement parking.
Exposed cycle parking outside Kelvindale Station, although it is unlikely that many people would cycle to this station, rather than the nearby and more useful Anniesland station.
Although still accessible, the new cycle parking at Kelvinbridge station is surrounded by building contractor's skips, hoardings and containers, making it rather unwelcoming.
Flattened cycle parking stands in Stockwell Street, next to the contraflow bus lane. See #65108 taken two weeks earlier.
A cycle parking hoop that's been twisted around so any bike parked on it would obstruct footway and adjacent cycleway. Plus taxi drivers ignoring advance stop lines again.
